hi there! nice to meet you.
We're a non-profit playful media studio. We make games, experiences, and media centered around the betterment of mental health. Thanks for stopping by.
Who Is This For?
- For players and curious minds. Games that respect your time and your story.
- For researchers and clinicians. Playful tools built on evidence.
- For partners and communities. We build with you, not for you.
Two Parts with the Same Spirit
Ludic Mind Lab
Douglas Mental Health University Institute
McGill University,
Montreal
The Ludic Mind Lab is located at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and is supported and sponsored by provincial and federal programs, as well as industry partners. Ludic Mind Lab supports the creation and adaptation of e-mental health technologies and interventions that are user-generated and based on co-design processes that promote shared decision-making, continuity of care, and overall quality care and cultural safety.

Le Studio Ludic Mind
Montreal, Quebec
The Studio exists for creative ventures and media creation around what we've learned. It was born when The Road Ahead grew into something bigger than a research project. As we are growing as creatives, we need publishing, marketing, community management, and ongoing development — things an academic lab isn't set up to do. So we incorporated as a Quebec non-profit to carry the making forward.
The Lab studies, publishes, and validates. We build, ship, and support. Same mission, different tools. Two parts of the same tree, doing what each does best.
How We Think
Play Can Be Serious
We believe real depth can be hidden within play. By playing, we connect to parts of ourselves and communicate ideas in a way that no other medium can. Play isn't just fun — it's a way to explore, process, and grow.
Co-Designed With Community
We don't build for people — we build with them. Youth, clinicians, and community members are part of the design process from day one. Lived experiences and bettering community with every step we take is what shapes our every decision.
Research-Backed
Every project is grounded in evidence. We work alongside researchers to validate that what we build actually helps. Fun matters — but so does knowing it works.
Open Process
We share our work openly — devlogs, conferences, research papers, design decisions, reviews, and streams. The process of making is itself a form of community engagement. You can watch us figure it out in real time.
Where We're Going
The Road Ahead
Our first flagship. A mail-carrying cozy RPG about community, recovery, and finding your way through a world learning to heal. Supporting youth stories through the memory system, TRA is in active development.
A Sustainable Studio
We're building a model for a non-profit game studio that can sustain itself — not through crunch or microtransactions, but through thoughtful publishing, grants, and community support.
More Games, More Media
TRA is the beginning. We plan to expand into more games, interactive experiences, and media — always centered on mental health and community well-being.
Community Events
Game jams, workshops, mentoring. We co-organized DINGO Game Jam in 2026 and plan to keep creating spaces where people can learn, make, and play together.
